Get a Fast Insurance Quote, 1 in 5 Californians Have No Health Insurance — Just released census figures show that nearly 6.5 million Californians went without health insurance in 2007. The report shows that the highest rates of uninsured residents were in Mono, Colusa and Monterey counties. San Francisco Bay Area counties were on the opposite side of the spectrum.
California ranks eighth in the list of states with the fewest insured residents. Texas, New Mexico and Florida were the worst. Also bear in mind, the 2007 figures–the most recent available- don’t bring to bear the affect of the recession on jobs and insurance. So it’s difficult to ignore the likelihood that California’s uninsured rate is only going to go up in the next couple of reports.
